Stream of Consciousness

The last point i’d like to bring up in this disgustingly long essay is the issue of feminism and women. While the creator of Community (Dan Harmon) is known for being rather “unlikable”, he manages to do something that Glee’s beloved Ryan Murphy could only dream of. He has given us three incredibly strong, well rounded, and independent lead women. Britta, Annie, and Shirley are not your typical females on TV. They don’t play mind games. They don’t need men to be strong (but that doesn’t stop them from getting a crush ever so often). They go on their own adventures and grow with each other. Im not going to elaborate on this as much because feminism in these series is an essay in itself, but once again, we see something totally different in Glee. The women are horribly snarky and mean. While they often have their good moments, all of them seem to manage to find the time to whine about relationships constantly, cheat on their significant others, and bully each other. What the leading ladies in Glee truly lack is a sense of honor. They represent the worst in female stereotyping, and this is not just from a non fan’s point of view. Many, many fans have complained about the lack of positive female role models in Glee as well.

Wasn’t aware there were groups dedicated to pointing out continuity errors in Glee.
